Mindfulness Education School Curriculum

mindfulness in school

Mindfulness education is necessary as an integral addition to today's  school  curriculum, greatly benefitting both students & teachers. Mindfulnice is a Mindfulness Education curriculum designed specifically with the goal of providing students & teachers with the tools necessary for positive

growth in an environment of kindness in (& out of) the classroom.

Many children today are experiencing feelings of increased anxiety & depression due to academic, social, and emotional pressures. Children are being diagnosed with anxiety disorders at an alarming rate. As childrenenter their teenage years, it is estimated that 1 in 4 will be bullied at school. Every year, approximately 4 million children are diagnosed with (& prescribed medication for) ADHD. With these statistics, it is not surprising that children report having difficulty paying attention as well as difficulty managing their stress, worry, and anger. It is nearly impossible for children to focus and concentrate on their school work.Teachers are feeling these stressors as well. With an increase in expectations, responsibilities, deadlines, and performance evaluations placed on teachers, over half of teachers today are reporting feelings of chronic stress. Teacher dissatisfaction can lead to reduced retention rates, increased absenteeism, and an inability to effectively engage and educate their students. Solid scientific evidence suggests that by integrating mindfulness education into the classroom, students and teachers alike benefit from having the tools necessary to manage stress and anxiety through the regular practice of connecting with their breath & mindfully returning to the present moment. This regular practice over time will result in the cultivation of kindness, for oneself and others, in the classroom.
